With the recent eX-odus to other social networks like Bluesky and Threads, I’ve noticed everyone appears to be spreading out.

I’m finding the original techies are moving to Bluesky (perhaps as it’s leaning into the original Twitter innovation and mindset) and Average Joe Public to Threads (likely due to the popularity of Meta & Instagram).

But what’s wrong with Mastodon? Is it the complexity of multiple instances, lack of appeal to own your own instance, common (mis)understanding of distributed networks?

One thing I do like about Bluesky is the verification through domains feature, i.e. I can be found with @sijobling.com. This doesn’t really apply to the masses but it does make it easier to discover, reconnect and transfer across different interoperable networks.

Where are you heading? Or have you had enough of (anti-)social media?
