Have you ever had a bad boss? How about using those examples to influence how you lead your team? From personal experiences, I’ve made sure I behave how I’d like to have been treated in those circumstances.
However, you should be careful not to go too far the other way:
There are people I’ve worked with who’ve taken advantage of my overly generous tendencies, and left our team worse off.
